Example of Using SUPERSEDE

The following is an illustration of the use of the SUPERSEDE keyword.

Consider a product, P1, with 3 features (f1, f2, and f3), and these attributes:

Product Name: P1 (F1, version 1.0) (F2, version 1.0) (F3, version 1.0)

Activation ID: Activation1

Entitlement ID: EL1

Account Name: Org1

Hostname: Mymachine

A user activates 5 out of 10 counts of the product, resulting in this license key:

SERVER this_host HOSTNAME=mymachine

VENDOR demo

USE_SERVER

INCREMENT F1 demo 1.0 26-dec-2008 5 ISSUER="My Corporation" \

ISSUED=3-oct-2008 START=2-oct-2008 SIGN="002A 20C2 A452 8B82 \

INCREMENT F2 demo 1.0 26-dec-2008 5 ISSUER="My Corporation" \

INCREMENT F3 demo 1.0 26-dec-2008 5 ISSUER="My Corporation" \

C40B 5C7B C3BA 2D00 DE42 3BCA FF74 D606 6208 25F1 EB2D"

Now consider product P2, with 3 features, which is an upgrade of product P1. Product P2 has these attributes:

Product Name: P2 (F1, version 2.0) (F2, version 1.0) (F4, version 1.0)

Activation ID: upgraded-Act

Entitlement ID: upgraded-EL

Account Name: Org1

Hostname: Mymachine

Now, if the user upgrades 3 copies of P1 to P2, FlexNet Operations would generate the following licenses using the SUPERSEDE keyword:

Fulfillment license text for P2 (the upgraded product):

Note the SUPERSEDE keyword in the license key.

As can be seen from these license files, the user would receive:

5 copies of F1 (2 copies of the F1, 1.0 feature and 3 copies of the F1, 2.0 feature)
5 copies of F2
2 copies of F3
3 copies of F4

If users later activate 2 copies of an upgradable line item from the Activate License page on the same host, FlexNet Operations generates the following license without using the SUPERSEDE keyword:
