Preparing FlexNet Operations

To prepare FlexNet Operations to create a license server, you must create and associate several entities using the Producer Portal. Many of these steps are common to any use of FlexNet Operations with FlexNet Embedded.

This preparation includes the following exercises.

Exercise

Description

Creating License Models

Shows how to create and deploy license models to use with the example products we plan to deliver through the license server.

Creating Features

Explains how to create the example feature, scientific-operations, as well as a baseline feature with which served clients can be registered.

Creating Products

Explains how to create the products necessary to create the entitlement line items to be delivered through the license server.

Creating an Account and a User

Shows how to create a customer account and user to which the new product will be entitled.

Entitling the Account

Describes how to create an entitlement, configure its line items with the new products, and entitle the customer account to those line items.

Viewing the Auto-Provisioned License Server

Explains how to find the license server that was created when the entitlement was deployed.

After you verify that the new license server was created, the FlexNet Operations preparations are complete. Continue with Obtaining the License Server URL and Running a Served Client Example.

If you have not previously used FlexNet Operations, see the section Getting Started with FlexNet Embedded Licensing for more information.
